Hi, everyone. My name is Nagesh Cheedella, and I would like to share my home ownership journey. I hope this will help anyone going through the hurdles of owning a home in an extremely challenging market like the Bay Area. So far, I worked with four different realtors, and it took me almost 2 years to buy a home.

I hope the mistakes I made and the learnings I have will help you in your home ownership journey. There's so much information available online, and we get a lot of input from our family and friends, but based on my experience, nothing beats having a good realtor by your side to guide and Coach you every step of the way. There are several good realtors in your friends and the Family Circle but to be successful in the Bay Area housing market a good realtor is not enough a best realtor is not enough you should find the best of the best Realtors to be successful. Based on my experience, I recommend looking for three trades in a realtor and choosing someone who exhibits these trades consistently.

1. Someone who has a lot of familiarity with the Locations, Neighborhoods, and Market Dynamics familiarity in one or two Neighborhoods or Markets is not sufficient.

2. Someone who can give honest feedback about our decisions in the home selection process. The realtor should be able to say no, that's not the home that meets your current and future needs. They should do this by giving a proper rationale and examples of why our selection is not the best for our family. In a nutshell, they should be able to guide us from making mistakes.

3. Someone who has a track record of being on both the sell side and the buy side of the transaction, or someone who has experience on both sides of the transaction, will be able to emerge victorious in the key offer negotiations.

These may sound simple, and every realtor claims they are good at all of these, but based on my experience, not everyone can consistently exhibit these trades, which was the main reason why I was unsuccessful in my home search for two years.
