926 Dempsey Rd, Milpitas, CA

Before I get into the number of things I love about the house, I want to mention how grateful I am and how important it is to have a place to call home. No matter where and how long I travel (we as a family travel a lot), nothing gives me more pleasure than having a relaxing day at home sipping a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

It’s obvious I love the whole house and am very attached to it (since this is my baby girl’s first housegirl’sas have been very lucky for us), but I want to call out a few things that stand out for me and us as a family and what makes this house a home for us.

Open Floor plan and Natural lighting

I feel the house welcoming me inside when I enter the house through the door. The floor plan of the house opening to the living room and the entire backyard with a great landscape is something I can never get bored of. In addition to all-day natural lighting in the house, this energizes you and helps you feel you are in your natural habitat. No matter the time of the day and the room you enter, whether living, kitchen, or bedroom, they are always lit up.

Trust me, it is great when your home is not gloomy, when you come in after a long day, work at the house now, or when your guests visit your place. All our family and guests have always loved how our home is so bright and radiant all the time. We like that the sun is our natural light source! Even with all this light, the backyard gets great shade in the evening, which is perfect when you want to get out after a long working day!

Beautiful Backyard

I love how we built our whole backyard from scratch when we got into the house, as we knew that was where we would gather as a family to chill out and our children would play. Little did we926 Dempsey Rd, Milpitas, CA know that most COVID times, it would be our gateway to fresh air and nature. It is the place where we hosted many parties, including some of the biggest moments of our lives! I also love that we have a view of the backyard from the living room and main bedroom but have complete privacy from outside into the bedroom.

In contrast to the cliché, the grass is always green in our backyard with zero maintenance throughout all these years. I wanted to ensure I always felt pleasant-looking in the backyard but did not have to work for it. Well, can you complain?

I love the beautiful plants like curry leaves that make every dish you produce tasty and flavorful, limes for that fresh lime juice in summer, figs, and guava trees that bear delicious fruit. I loved seeing my 1-year-old baby taking tiny steps carrying a basket of guava fruits last summer. The backyard always allowed us to plant more trees or have portable raised beds by moving the stones during the summer for seasonal vegetables. I can vouch for the soil as we have harvested various vegetables like tomatoes, leafy greens, bell peppers, chilies, cucumbers, and many more.

The backyard gives you plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty and grow your food with all the space around! Nighttime? Switch on the beautiful LED string lights, and you get a lovely lit dinner under the lights, moon, and stars!

Kitchen with a connected multipurpose room

Who doesn’t love a kitdoesn’tth an ample room that can be used as you, please? We first moved the laundry into the garage when we bought this house. Rather, to not have the noise of laundry inside the noise, and second, to get another room that could be used as a pantry, office, or Zen room. I love that it has a door that works great for blocking sound and keeping it private when you have guests.

We used this room for multiple purposes, like a meditation when we moved in, a cellar for drinks/wine and games, an office for a while, and finally extended it to a pantry during the pandemic for extra storage. The kitchen by itself has great storage, especially the pantry storage. As you enter, the kitchen fits a lot of things!

Garage or Office Space or Den?

This is one of our favorite places at home for our family, extended family, and friends. We used it in many ways before we upgraded it to a fully finished room. It is a multipurpose area that used to be transformed into a play area for kids and adults, a party place, a den, a media room, a dancing arena for Indian sangeet practice, a gym, and a great storage space. This place never fell short of any of the activities. Our favorite activities during a pandemic are filling a coffee mug, opening the garage, enjoying the sun, and chatting with neighbors.

Now that it is fully finished, it turned into another living room with the walls neatly done, insulated, recess lighting, and epoxy on the floor. In all this, I forgot to mention, as it’s a secret, that’s never parked our cars in the garage as we had ample space for even three cars right in front of the garage.

Magnificent Mountains and Views

The best perk of living in the valley is around mountains and nature! I love how this house is so close to the mountains. I can never get bored of looking at the mountains from our bedroom and backyard first thing in the morning. The parks nearby provide great views of the mountains and have great beauty, whether lush green or rusty brown. A fun fact is that they are a pleasure for the eye and a great spot for gatherings and photoshoots.

We had many photoshoots of our baby in those spots giving us amazing memories! Not to forget the beautiful Sierra Vista Preserve and Ed R. Levin County Park, which is just a10 minute’s drive, givminute’saccess to trials with breathtaking views and beautiful lakes. There are a couple of lakes in the area giving access to fishing, and again, who called for BBQ and picnic spots? You have them all!

Neighborhood

I love how the neighborhood complements the house with parks, schools, restaurants, etc. Want a pleasant walk while your kid is engaged? With just a 3-minute walk away from the newly renovated and beautiful Creighton Park, the kids can never get bored.

It is a great park for a pleasant conversation while getting your steps, enclosed spaces for small and big pets, exercise equipment, and a great spot for picnics. We have had many outings there with our kids to play ball and catch up with our friends outdoors! Other beautiful parks within a 1-mile radius of the neighborhood provide great views of the mountains!

Where are the schools?

All three levels of schools are within a 2-mile radius and have great ratings, with high school at nine ratings. With elementary and middle school less than a mile away, you can choose to walk and get that fresh air early in the morning!

Eat, drink, play, shop, or catch a movie?

I am a foodie, and so is my husband. We love that the house is so close to great restaurants, coffee shops, and tea places with cuisines from all over the world, like Chinese, Indian, American, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean BBQ, and many more. The great Mall is just a mile away with all the top brand stores to shop from and then catch a movie.

All grocery stores like Safeway, Target, and Trader Joe’s are just witJoe’s 1-mile radius, making our grocery runs quick and painless. Not to forget, I remember how we walked and went for a bowling game at Bowlero, billiards, or badminton game at Bintang for fun when we had friends around or we were, well, plain bored.

Travel?

Are you feeling like an impromptu trip to SF, or do you need to make a trip to SF for work? The BART station is less than 2 miles away. Last-minute flight catching is so easy with BART so close to the house!

Overall, I consider myself and our family lucky to have been a part of this house’s journey fohouse’sast few years. We had a lot of fun living in this beautiful home, it was very lucky for us, and we made some unforgettable memories! I wish a joyous ride and happiness for anyone coming in as well!
